The ridge on which Wenhaston stands is already a high point in the landscape. St.Peter's church stands on a knoll on the ridge and thus occupies the highest ground available. This indicates that this has been the site of a place of worship for a very long time, pre-dating the present building which itself contains Saxon stones within its walls. The tower is late 14th century and houses six church bells of which the oldest is dated 1450. They sound terrific.
